  Little gem of a picnic spot within Melbourne. You can hire boats for 1-5 people starting from half hour rentals. We had a lovely picnic overlooking the river and bridge. My only qualm is the lack of life guards around the area; one of our rented canoes capsized (luckily near a bank) and no staff available to help them get out of the water. They arrived only after one of the canoe riders ran back (Drenched) to the boat house to inform them of what happened. It was pretty scary for those involved and hopefully a call for some form of security when it comes to renting out boats to strangers with or without any former knowledge of boating.
  Life jackets are provided, so that was a good thing. Gorgeous place and shall definitely go back again :)
